Aftercare
When your session is done, you’ll have either SecondSkin or Vita Wrap applied for the protection of the new tattoo. Therefore, there are two different aftercare routines.
If you get Vita Wrap, it’s probably because you’re allergic to SecondSkin, or the placement of the tattoo is difficult to wrap with second skin, and it wouldn’t last more than a couple of hours due to body part movement.
SecondSkin
SecondSkin should stay on the skin for about 3-5 days. The only reasons for you to remove it are if there are a lot of fluids underneath (blood, etc.) or if a part of the fresh tattoo is exposed from the SecondSkin. In these two cases, you have to peel off the SecondSkin before the 3-5 days.
When you take off the plastic, do it in the shower, and grab the corner and lift it in the same direction as the corner to slowly make it let go of the skin itself. Wash the tattoo with perfume-free soap or just water and dab on it with a towel instead of dragging over it to dry it. If there is still some glue left on the skin, you can use either baby oil, coconut oil, or cream to remove the rest.
For cream, you have to go to the pharmacy and ask for something to lubricate your new tattoo (they will give you something called “Panthenol salve” or “Panthenol creme”). From now on, you just have to put cream on 2-3 times a day until the tattoo is fully healed.
Vita Wrap
Vita Wrap should only stay on for at least 4 hours or until you go to sleep at night. When you take the plastic off, wash the tattoo with perfume-free soap or just water and dab it with a towel instead of dragging over it to dry it. For cream, you have to go to the pharmacy and ask for something to lubricate your new tattoo (they will give you something called ‘Panthenol salve’ or ‘Panthenol creme’). From now on, you just have to put cream on 2-3 times a day until the tattoo is fully healed.
Healing and touch up
The tattoo will be fully healed after 2-3 weeks, but it’s important in both aftercare processes that you avoid sun and water (pool, tub, and the ocean) for at least 3 weeks.
If the tattoo needs a touch-up, you simply go to the booking form and schedule an appointment by selecting the ‘touch up’ option. The touch-up is free up to 3 months after the actual session. When you book a touch-up session, you have to upload a picture of how the tattoo looks – make sure that the lighting and the quality of the picture are good. If I find that a touch-up isn’t necessary, I’ll contact you and explain why.
